Actors who once focused on their craft have now become amateur political activists, loudly attacking conservatives and pushing radical agendas. Their irrelevance is confirmed by the fact that younger generations don’t recognize their names. When political grandstanding replaces genuine talent, the audience votes with their wallets—and the box office numbers tell the real story. People aren’t just avoiding theaters because of COVID or streaming services; they’re escaping because Hollywood has become a bore and a bully, two things nobody wants to pay to see.
It’s not just about content. The movie-going experience, once a communal joy, has been hijacked by inflated ticket prices and exclusive VIP nonsense that turns a fun night out into a luxury expense. Gone are the days of second-run theaters and affordable access for everyday Americans. Instead, the industry caters to elites and celebrities who demand lavish perks and huge paychecks. Meanwhile, the hardworking people who used to fill theaters stay home, turning instead to streaming, YouTube, or libraries—just as well, since those are packed with the classic films Hollywood now chooses to ignore.
Hollywood’s fall is inevitable. The arrogance of the entertainment industry, combined with its embrace of divisive politics and its abandonment of quality, has killed the golden goose.
