In another outrageous display of misplaced priorities, the Pentagon is actually considering severing its long-standing support for Scouting America, the noble organization previously known as the Boy Scouts of America. This would end more than a century of collaboration between the military and a group that has been instrumental in shaping the character and courage of our nation’s youth. What happened to upholding traditions that strengthen our future leaders? It’s a scandalous shift that reeks of liberal bias and a disregard for American values.
Scouting America has been a pillar of strength for young men (and now women) across this great nation. Participants are taught the virtues of leadership, self-reliance, and patriotism. These are exactly the qualities that a nation needs in its future defenders. But in today’s climate, it seems that promoting such values is out of fashion. This isn’t just ill-advised; it’s a disgraceful assault on some of our most foundational institutions.
Who benefits from cutting ties with Scouting America? Certainly not the youth who stand to gain invaluable life skills and moral bearings through their programs. No, this seems more like an attempt to pander to those who couldn’t care less about the history and traditions that make America strong and unique. The left might call it “progress,” but a step away from nurturing tomorrow’s patriots is a step in the wrong direction.
This isn’t just about the Scouts—it’s a warning sign about the broader agenda at play. The bias encompasses everything from our schools to the military, where the focus shifts from excellence and preparedness to appeasing globalist and liberal ideologies. If the Pentagon follows through with this terrible idea, what signals are we sending our youth about national pride and duty?
The real question here is why do this at all? Is this to appease some loud minority that does not believe in national service or commitment to one’s country? The values taught by Scouting America have endured for a reason—they work. Maybe if some of today’s decision-makers had taken those lessons to heart, we’d be facing fewer political messes on the home front.
