The new mayor-elect of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, thinks it’s a good idea to hand the keys to public safety over to someone who dreams of ending the police force. Yes, you read that right. Mamdani has selected a Brooklyn College professor, the author of a book proposing the end of policing, to join his transition team. They might as well hang a sign on the state of New York saying, “Criminals welcome.”
This move is a slap in the face to every law-abiding citizen in New York. First, they dismantled the plainclothes units that kept our streets safer. Now, they’re placing academics with radical ideas in positions of power. The agenda is crystal clear. The aim is to uproot traditional law enforcement and let chaos prevail.
The left has always had a problem with our brave men and women in blue. They criticize from their ivory towers without understanding the daily dangers of keeping the streets safe. This sociological experiment endangers communities while cloaking itself in academic jargon about “reform.”
Imagine a New York City where criminals run free without the worry of law enforcement holding them accountable. This appointment shows a deeply ingrained anti-police mentality within the ranks of Democratic socialists. There’s a clear failure to understand that safety, not an ideological war against police, should be the priority.
Electing officials who play fast and loose with public safety is a dangerous game. Will New Yorkers find themselves pining for the days when you could actually rely on the police to protect and serve? Let’s hope the safety experiment New York is about to embark on doesn’t cost too many lives.
