Jasmine Crockett, a firebrand member of the infamous “Squad,” has decided her tenure in Congress isn’t enough to satisfy her thirst for power. She’s crashing into Texas’ Senate race like a wrecking ball, eyeing a chance to challenge the resolute John Cornyn. This self-proclaimed progressive is hoping to lead a Democratic primary that’s rapidly turning into a circus.
In her latest bid for national prominence, Crockett isn’t just running against fellow Democrats; she’s launching a liberal crusade against Texas’ established values. It seems like she’s found her battleground in a state that still holds some common sense. Democratic contenders like Beto O’Rourke and James Talarico will now have to contend with this brazen interloper, as she steps into the ring at the eleventh hour. Crockett’s timing is anything but coincidental. Changing congressional maps that swing her district to the right have made her run for Senate a convenient escape route.
Then we have Colin Allred, who had the foresight to pull out of this train wreck before it derailed entirely. Rather than join Crockett’s parade of liberal utopianism, he chose to step back, likely recognizing that this Senate primary is a recipe for Democratic self-destruction. As the Democrats struggle to align themselves, it’s all too fitting that Ken Paxton is gaining ground against Cornyn. The conservative base hasn’t forgotten how Cornyn has waffled in his support for Trump and America First policies.
The irony of it all lies in Democrats blaming Trump for their inadequacies while their party descends into a power struggle. As Crockett forces her way through a crowded field on her way to potential self-annihilation, one must ask whether the Democrats are even united in their fury against a man who represents the best interest of Americans. Perhaps they’re too preoccupied with securing their own personal gains.
So what’s the reality here? A latecomer like Crockett thinks she can rewrite the political playbook in Texas. But Texans are wise to these games, and they know better than to trust their future to a “Squad” member who thinks grandstanding is a qualification for public office. Is this truly the best the Democrats have to offer in the Lone Star State?
