The battle over who truly runs America’s government is heating up—and it’s about time. At the heart of this fight is a decades-old Supreme Court ruling that shackles the President’s authority to control his own executive branch. The case? A power grab by a fired bureaucrat and her cronies at the Federal Trade Commission, clinging desperately to a nearly century-old precedent that makes the President little more than a figurehead. It’s time to gut this rotten ruling and restore the Presidency to what the Founders intended.
For too long, Washington’s “independent” agencies have operated like shadow governments, stacked with unelected rulers who push their outsized agendas without so much as a nod to the American people. The Federal Trade Commission, born out of Progressive-era meddling, is a prime example. No one voted for these five commissioners who dictate everything from drug prices to credit card fees. They wield massive power, yet answer to nobody but themselves. This is bureaucratic tyranny, pure and simple.
The courts must understand that there are only three branches of government—not some phantom fourth one where faceless technocrats hold the real power. The President is the head of the executive branch, and he must have the ability to fire his subordinates without some arcane 1914 law tying his hands. That law, and the Supreme Court’s lazy endorsement of it through the infamous Humphrey’s Executor decision, is a relic from the radical Progressive era—a time when elites decided Americans couldn’t be trusted to govern themselves. Today’s liberals love hiding behind this old ruling because it protects their unelected swamp creatures from any accountability.
It’s laughable—and infuriating—that progressives scream about democracy while building bureaucratic kingdoms immune from any electoral will. The real outrage is that the Supreme Court still gives a pass to a precedent that essentially hands off parts of the executive branch to career bureaucrats who serve ideology, not the voters. America’s courts should be tearing down these traps, not sustaining a system that robs the President of control and the people of their voice. We didn’t fight wars, build economies, and lay the foundation of this nation to see our government handed over to sneaky rule by “experts” who couldn’t win an election.
The time has come to put an end to this grotesque overreach. The President must have the clear, unfettered right to remove incompetent or partisan commission members without absurd “for cause” protections. Otherwise, we’re just puppets in a shadow government that serves globalists and bureaucrats instead of We the People. The Supreme Court ruling that started this mess needs to be blasted off the books and replaced with a simple truth: the President calls the shots in the executive branch. Anything less is a betrayal of American sovereignty and common sense. When will conservatives stand firm and demand this broken system be fixed once and for all?
