The Biden administration has dropped the ball on immigration, and we’re now paying the price. Tens of thousands of Afghan refugees have entered the United States in the wake of a chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. Among them are individuals who clearly aren’t qualified to be here—some even facing charges related to terrorism. Yet, they were granted access to a treasure trove of taxpayer-funded benefits, leaving hardworking American families to pick up the tab.
Let’s take a moment to understand just how generous this administration has been. Afghan evacuees are eligible for an array of costly benefits: housing assistance, food stamps, medical aid, and even educational grants, among others. It’s a menu of goodies that American taxpayers have to fund! Meanwhile, many of these refugees lack basic English skills and have lower educational attainment compared to other immigrant populations. In simple terms, they are more likely to slip through the cracks of our system, living in poverty as they leech off the very American taxpayers who are struggling to get by.
To top it all off, many of these refugees are settling in some of America’s most expensive cities—places like Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City—enjoying benefits that should go to American citizens first. The Biden administration even encouraged landlords to prioritize these newcomers over American citizens, abandoning fair housing practices. This is nothing short of prioritizing foreign nationals over American residents who need help. It’s an affront to the American people and a clear sign that the liberal agenda is full steam ahead, regardless of the consequences for everyday Americans.
Consider the safety concerns too. The same administration that rolled out the welcome mat has admitted individuals with unchecked backgrounds. It’s reckless and dangerous, especially given recent events where Afghan evacuees have turned violent. Yet, even with evidence that some of these individuals could pose a threat, the government continues to funnel resources their way while ignoring the basic needs of its own citizens. Why are we as a nation supposed to feel safe when our leaders seem more concerned about appeasing the globalist agenda than securing our borders and communities?
The bottom line is clear: This administration’s policies prioritize Afghans immigrating to our shores while sidelining American citizens. Instead of creating a better life for all, they’re creating an environment where Afghan refugees can thrive on benefits that Americans, who actually built this country, are left to struggle without. So, let’s ask ourselves: How much longer will we let this administration trample on American values and interests? The time for change is now, and it must be led by leaders who put Americans first.
