Governor Hochul is about to make a grave mistake, threatening the future of cutting-edge technology, with the latest toxic AI bill in Albany. Instead of embracing innovation, this bill aims to suffocate it. The so-called Responsible Artificial Intelligence Safety and Education (RAISE) Act demands enormous AI developers jump through flaming hoops to create elaborate safety plans while cutting off access to tech-sharing. This is the kind of red tape that chokes progress and stalls our nation’s competitive edge in the global tech race.
Why is Albany pretending it’s the epicenter of tech regulation wisdom? AI development doesn’t need overzealous state mandates turning it into a bureaucratic nightmare. That’s just more government meddling in industries it knows little about. This is classic liberal overreach—thinking big government knows best when, in fact, it knows or cares next to nothing about real-world innovation and freedom.
It’s high time Governor Hochul shredded this bill to pieces and left AI regulation to the only place equipped to handle it: Congress. Letting state-level bureaucrats play with tech rules is like letting a toddler play with a chemistry set; nothing good will come of it. Congress isn’t perfect, but at least there’s a chance for balancing rules that allow America to remain competitive and secure. The heartland of America needs jobs and growth, not tech giants shackled by overregulation.
Moreover, there’s the looming threat of global competitors like China who wouldn’t think twice about racing ahead while we’re stuck in endless red tape. Do liberals really want the next tech leap to happen overseas? States like New York potentially jeopardizing national interests and technological leadership for the sake of appearing “responsible” is a dangerous path.
Governor Hochul has a choice—align with the misguided elites of Albany or champion American freedom and innovation. Are we going to cripple AI development or unleash it to make America the leader of tomorrow’s technology? Hochul should ponder who benefits from stifling progress and innovation—because it certainly isn’t the American people.
