In a society obsessed with political correctness, one might think that caution should be exercised in the kind of characters and narratives endorsed by the cultural elites. But no, it seems some leftist circles are celebrating a story about a witch who preys on kids, a character gleefully embraced by drag and LGBTQ groups. Are we the only sane ones left to find this deeply unsettling?
Hollywood is up to its familiar tricks, pushing the envelope of decency while expecting applause. The horror movie “Weapons” flaunts a child-stealing witch as its star, and the bizarre reception this character has received from certain communities is alarming. Instead of recoiling, there’s an unsettling acceptance and even admiration, all under the guise of being an outsider. They argue it’s about representation. But at what point does representation become outright endorsement of evil?
One can’t help but question how low the left will sink in the name of diversity and acceptance. Why would anyone rational celebrate a villain who targets the innocence of children? There is a clear line between fictional horror and an endorsement of something vile, but it seems like the latter is being dangerously normalized. Is this what progressive culture has become—supporters of kidnappers and tormentors?
While we’re constantly told that drag queen story hours are about inclusion and education, stories like this cast a shadow of doubt. Instead of fostering reading and acceptance, are they indoctrinating young minds with stories of sinister characters? Parents should take note and question if this is the kind of narrative that should sneak its way into our libraries and schools.
It’s high time to push back against this radical agenda that places so-called representation above morality. We need to reclaim our cultural standards before they’re twisted beyond recognition. When a witch is your heroine, society might be facing a real horror story.
