Senator Richard Blumenthal’s latest whining about the U.S. seizing an oil tanker off the Venezuelan coast is textbook liberal obstruction at its worst. Here we have a clear move to clamp down on Venezuela’s shady oil dealings—possibly linked to Iran—and instead of applauding American strength, Blumenthal slams it as some reckless step toward war without Congress’s say-so. Funny, though, how this same crowd had no problem with proxy wars, endless foreign aid, or backing globalist schemes without so much as a peep about Constitutional “authorization.” Hypocrisy much?
Blumenthal and his cronies want you to believe the seizure of a tanker involved in smuggling dubious cargo is a “pressure campaign” gone off the rails. But let’s get real—this isn’t some aggressive act, it’s a necessary slap on the wrist to regimes actively undermining U.S. interests. Venezuela has been a thorn in our side for years, fueling chaos right in America’s backyard. And now that the administration is moving decisively, the Democrats pretend they’re worried about “transparency” and “cover-ups.” Wherever there’s action, you can bet the left will cry foul, demanding subpoenas and paperwork while the bad actors keep running rings around us.
The fact that Blumenthal even links this operation to “possible conflict” is laughable. Governments have done far worse without Congressional approval in the name of “national security.” Yet suddenly, when the U.S. acts against a hostile regime’s illegal oil trade, these politicians sound the alarm. It’s safe to say their real concern isn’t about checks and balances—it’s about weakening American resolve so leftist globalists can better push their anti-sovereignty agenda. If we let this pass, no strong action will be off the table, and America will slide further into decline.
And don’t overlook Blumenthal’s smokescreen about “transparency.” The real transparency his side fears is the truth about the damage leftist policies cause to America’s standing in the world. Democrats would rather cover up their own incompetence with endless investigations than support the tough decisions necessary to keep America safe. Their idea of governance is endless hand-wringing while enemies plot on our doorstep.
So here’s the crux: the seizure of that oil tanker was a bold move to defend American interests. If Democrats want to complain about Congressional authorization, let them hold hearings—and better yet, start supporting policies that put America first. Until then, their hollow calls for transparency and legal technicalities amount to nothing more than a globalist wet blanket on American strength. When will the left stop undermining the very power that keeps us free?
