Giving a journalism award to Jon Stewart and Rachel Maddow is like handing out Oscars at a high school play. One’s a comedian who scripts news as satire, and the other is a pundit who freely admits she’s not in the business of journalism. But that doesn’t stop their liberal cheerleaders from clapping along and pretending it’s legitimate journalism. Let’s be clear. Stewart and Maddow are in showbiz, not news biz.
Remember when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Barack Obama just because he wasn’t George W. Bush? How did that work out? It devalued the prestigious award. Similarly, the Cronkite Awards are now a rubber stamp for liberal propaganda. They claim to celebrate excellence, but it’s an excellence defined by biased narratives and the demonization of those who don’t fit their leftist mold.
USC Annenberg takes it a step further by portraying these awards as a stand against disinformation and corruption. Yet they honor the very people who blur the lines between truth and agenda. This isn’t journalism—it’s activism cloaked in legitimacy, carrying the Cronkite name like a hollow badge of honor. Meanwhile, the real “firewall” between the public and truth grows weaker by the day.
Cronkite stood for reliability and integrity. Now his name backs awards that celebrate the opposite. The prestigious honor that once crowned real journalism as a public service is now no different than a participation trophy for left-wing punditry. At this point, one might ask: how long until every journalistic standard is buried beside Cronkite’s legacy, with globalist motivations and liberal biases dancing on the grave?
