Australia is reeling from a tragic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, resulting in the heartbreaking loss of 16 innocent lives. Who does their Prime Minister choose to blame? Law-abiding gun owners. It’s an all-too-familiar move in the liberal playbook—miss the mark and undermine personal freedoms.
In a brazen display of misguided priorities, Prime Minister Albanese is banging the drum for even stricter gun control. He seems to think that stripping Australians of their rights is the best way forward. Let’s remember, Australia already boasts some of the harshest gun laws on the planet. Yet, here we are, witnessing the grim reality that determined criminals will find a way.
The problem isn’t the guns. It’s the radicalized individuals who pulled the trigger. But instead of addressing the real issue—extremism and its troubling rise—Albanese opts for a flimsy solution that victimizes law-abiding citizens. His proposals to further limit gun ownership and licenses are nothing more than regressive and ineffective measures.
In the aftermath of this attack, we also learned that some officers were hiding instead of protecting the public. The same government that confiscates your rights is the one failing to protect you. It’s a harsh lesson in the importance of self-defense—a right still preserved in the United States by the Second Amendment.
The truth is clear: more gun control isn’t the answer. It’s time to hold radical ideologies accountable, not strip away rights under the guise of security. How long will Australians tolerate leaders who leave them vulnerable while blaming everything but the real problem?
