In yet another display of celebrity disconnect, Cardi B recently took to social media to criticize the United States while showering praise on Saudi Arabia. It seems the rapper thinks living among oil-rich elites magically turns her into royalty, just because she managed to ignore the realities that many in the region face. America, according to her, is beneath her now. If this is her definition of patriotism, we’re better off without her.
Cardi B’s glowing review of Saudi Arabia left out some key points. She conveniently overlooked how little freedom artists like herself have in such countries. If she tried performing there with her usual explicit antics, she’d be in serious trouble. They don’t tolerate public displays of the kind of “artistry” she calls talent. Forget about those lavish gigs if you step out of line. She praises the wealth she sees there, despite every penny being piled on questionable labor practices and zero tolerance to the freedoms she abuses back home.
It’s also ironic how she laments paying taxes in the U.S. Maybe living without paved roads or public safety is preferable? She forgets that ordinary Americans carry similar burdens without complaining. Cardi B thinks she’s special and that the rules don’t apply to her—all while wanting to enjoy the fruits of what she denounces. Typical liberal elitist behavior. Criticize America while enjoying its spoils.
Why does she want to act like she’s entitled to a tax-free ride? The rest of us pick up the tab for her to live like a queen. When was the last time a celebrity said, “Hey, I’m happy to do my part”? It’s entitlement on steroids. America gave her the platform, and she’s out to exploit it without any contribution.
Her fantasy of being a foreign queen might be fun for now, but let’s see when reality sets in. The one blessing in this whole fiasco? We don’t have to deal with her self-important rants Stateside—for now. But maybe, just maybe, America should take her wish to go off our hands seriously. After all, how long will the novelty of her ‘getaway’ last before she’s wanting her “so-ghetto” American freedom back?
