Of course, the left would rather see us reliant on foreign resources, even if it means suffocating states like New Mexico under the weight of their own bloated governance.
New Mexico, a state that depends heavily on oil and gas revenues to fund projects like early childhood education, finds itself on the hot seat. Instead of rolling out the red carpet for energy producers, the state wrings its hands over “fiscal pressures.” But let’s be honest, this could be easily addressed if the state cut some wasteful spending. The Democrats’ strategy of taxing and spending has left their budget stretched too thin. It’s not Trump’s policies that are the problem; it’s the state’s mismanaged priorities.
And where does this broadening fiscal strain mainly come from? It stems from progressive attempts to fund feel-good social programs at the expense of financial prudence. New Mexico chooses to expand state initiatives and savings, yet they want to sidestep the one solid source of funding they can count on—oil and gas. It’s classic liberal hypocrisy. They crave the revenues but shun the industry that provides them. Under Trump’s proposal, these states could be swimming in revenue if only they had an ounce of foresight.
Liberals can cry all they want about the environmental impact, but the truth is, America needs its energy independence. The dependency on foreign oil is a national security risk, plain and simple. Democrats would rather bow to globalist interests and keep the Green New Deal dream alive, all while filling the airwaves with anti-drilling rhetoric that only undermines our nation’s economic stability.
Trump is offering an olive branch to these states—a chance to re-align their priorities and revitalize their economies. His approach demands balancing economic growth with responsible stewardship, not demonizing productivity for political points.
