It’s happened again. An international scammer exploited gaping holes in America’s system while our so-called leaders sleep at the wheel. The story of Matthew Akande—a Nigerian national hiding out in Mexico, who managed to steal millions from American taxpayers right under the noses of the bureaucrats—shows just how vulnerable this nation has become.
For five years, Akande, along with a crew of coconspirators, hacked into tax preparers’ computers, stole personal identities, and flooded the IRS with over a thousand fake tax returns. He tried to walk away with more than $8 million in taxpayer money and succeeded in pocketing over $1.3 million. The operation was slick and global: hacking from abroad, laundering money through U.S. accomplices, then funneling it out of the country into the waiting pockets of criminals overseas.
Why did this happen? Liberal America’s open-door globalism and obsession with protecting “privacy” over actually defending Americans created a perfect storm. While the left obsesses over pronouns and social justice, international criminals are busy raiding American piggy banks. Soft-on-crime politicians and bureaucratic red tape keep real accountability out of reach. It took an international manhunt—from Mexico to the U.K.—just to drag one criminal to court! The left loves to talk about borderless “global justice,” but the only thing getting shared is our national wealth—right into the hands of overseas thieves.
It’s not just about the money, though that should be enough. This is about respect for America, her laws, and her citizens. These foreign hackers aren’t just running scams—they are exploiting a culture that refuses to take its sovereignty seriously. Every dollar stolen is a dollar ripped from hardworking Americans, thanks to a system more focused on appeasing activists and sending welfare checks abroad than protecting the folks at home.
This sentencing—eight years and a slap on the wrist for nearly $1.3 million in stolen funds—barely scratches the surface. If liberal lawmakers spent half as much time plugging loopholes as they spend targeting law-abiding citizens, maybe stories like this wouldn’t make the headlines. But don’t expect the swamp to dry itself.
How much longer will Americans tolerate being easy targets for foreign criminals, while their own government refuses to stand up and fight? Maybe it’s time to close the borders, defend our data, and put Americans first—for a change.
