California Just Proved What Conservatives Knew All Along: Common Sense Trumps Woke Politics
California liberals can’t seem to help themselves. After months of foot-dragging, Gavin Newsom finally buckled and accepted what every patriotic American already knows—you need to speak English if you’re driving a big rig across our highways. For years, Democrats in Sacramento have handed out special treatment to non-citizens, while ignoring basic safety and federal law. It took the threat of losing a huge chunk of federal money—money straight from the American taxpayer—to force the Golden State to act.
Let’s get real. Every other state has been following this simple rule: truck drivers must be able to read and understand road signs in English. You’d think that would be a no-brainer. But not in Newsom’s California. The state became the only one in the country that simply ignored the rules, letting anyone with a Commercial Driver’s License—no matter their English skills—hit the open road. The result? Deadly crashes, people killed, and chaos unleashed—all thanks to globalist, open-borders ideology.
Look at the record. Just last year, a trucker in this country illegally, with CDLs from two states, made an illegal U-turn in Florida and killed three people. Not long after, a foreign driver plowed into traffic in California, causing a horrific pile-up that left more families shattered. And this February, a non-English speaking semitruck driver from Kyrgyzstan veered into oncoming traffic in Indiana, killing four. It’s no mystery why these disasters keep happening—when you can’t even read a stop sign, you shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a 40-ton truck.
But still, Newsom treated enforcement as a game—defying the federal government, just because he wants to play politics with President Trump. Who pays the price for his arrogance? Everyday Americans on the highway and taxpayers footing the bill for state incompetence. When federal officials finally put their foot down and threatened to pull over $200 million in transportation funding, California cried uncle. Suddenly, Newsom couldn’t ignore the law any longer.
This entire fiasco is a perfect example of the left’s priorities: virtue signaling over security, catering to illegal immigrants and globalist interests, and opposing anything with Trump’s name on it—even if it puts American lives at risk. Conservatives have fought for sane policies like these for years. If it takes the threat of shutting off California’s government gravy train to force progressives back to reality, then so be it. Isn’t it strange how fast liberals remember the law when their cash is on the line?
