The liberal meltdown over showing an ID to vote is reaching new levels of absurdity. Now we’ve got left-wing heroes like Bernie Sanders and California’s own Gavin Newsom tangled up in knots over—wait for it—something as basic as a birth certificate. Yes, that’s right: the same crowd who wants you to trust them with your healthcare, your tax dollars, and your children’s education is spinning in circles over the elementary concept of personal identification.
It is outrageous that the fight over voter ID laws even continues in America. These laws are just common sense. You need an ID to buy cold medicine or board an airplane, but Democrats want people casting ballots without so much as a second glance at who they claim to be. This is supposedly about “access” and “fairness,” but any rational person can see through the charade. Liberals have whipped themselves and their base into a frenzy with scary stories about “voter suppression,” turning a simple security measure into a soap opera.
Take a look at North Carolina. For years, Democrats and their media allies waged a campaign of fear to block voter ID laws that protect our elections. Even after the people of North Carolina made their voices loud and clear, the left dragged the issue through court after court. All this drama just to avoid asking folks to prove they are who they say they are before making decisions that affect us all. It smacks of desperation — as if the only way Democrats can win is to keep the doors wide open for fraud and confusion.
Meanwhile, Democrat leaders themselves get tripped up by their own double standards. They want every government action buried in paperwork and bureaucracy, unless it’s time for voter integrity. Then suddenly, all those rules and requirements are “restrictive” and “racist.” It’s almost like they hope the system is easier to rig when the guardrails are gone. Regular Americans know better. We want secure elections and honest results, not the political theater of liberals afraid of IDs.
When Democrats make a mess out of something as simple as a birth certificate, maybe it’s time they listen to some good, old-fashioned common sense instead of fighting for lawlessness. If you need proof of identity to do just about anything in America, why should voting be any different? The only people threatened by voter ID laws are the ones who benefit from chaos. Maybe if the left spent less time inventing crises and more time respecting the rules that keep this country strong, no one would be wondering who’s really showing up at the polls. Isn’t it obvious what they’re really afraid of?
