Gavin Newsom loves to sneer at anything conservative, but this time, he’s gloating for all the wrong reasons. After President Trump’s recent hiccup at the Supreme Court over tariffs, California’s smug liberals seem to think they’ve scored some grand victory. They act like the Golden State is untouchable. But the truth is, California’s far-left leadership is in no position to brag about anything—especially when their own house is in chaos.
While Newsom basks in the spotlight, real Californians are drowning in sky-high taxes, insane regulations, and homelessness on every street. Maybe Newsom forgets that hardworking families and small businesses are the ones getting crushed—not Chinese factories or Wall Street globalists. Liberals claim to care about the “little guy,” but their policies only make life harder for the people they pretend to fight for. Tariffs, done right, protect American jobs and keep foreign powers from gutting our industries. That’s something liberal elites never want to admit.
Democrat leaders love to play the victim when they lose, and cheer like school kids when courts rule in their favor. But when it comes to fixing California, they have zero ideas. They would rather complain about Trump than clean up their own mess in Sacramento. Does Newsom think a Supreme Court decision magically fixes the sick economy he and his pals have created? Tariffs aren’t some evil plot by Washington—they’re a way to stop China and other countries from robbing us blind.
It’s rich to see California liberals whine about federal action, while they boss their own citizens around, hiking taxes and strangling freedom every year. They wave the flag when it suits them, then push globalist schemes that leave Americans worse off. The hypocrisy is clear: Democrats hate tariffs because they expose just how much they rely on foreign goods and cheap labor, not American workers.
Maybe instead of celebrating when Trump stumbles, Newsom should take a hard look in the mirror. If California is so perfect, why are people fleeing the state in droves? Why are businesses shutting their doors? The real problem isn’t Washington—it’s the failed liberal vision in blue states like California. If the left wants to really help Americans, they should stop taking victory laps and start listening to the people they’ve left behind.
Why not lower taxes for a change, instead of just cheering when America loses? That’s the debate Newsom should be having, but don’t hold your breath.
