Congress Runs for Cover at First Snowflake While Americans Power Through

Congress Freezes Up—Again—Over a Little Snowstorm

Here we go again. Congress, the so-called leaders of our country, have delayed getting back to work in Washington because of some snowflakes in the forecast. That’s right. The House and Senate just handed themselves an extra day off because they’re scared of a winter storm. You can’t make this stuff up.

This is exactly the kind of coddled, big government attitude we’ve come to expect from the liberal elite running the show in D.C. While hardworking Americans face icy roads and still make it to their jobs, our jet-setting lawmakers tap out at the first sign of winter. The rest of us can’t just call off work because the weather’s bad—if we did, the country would shut down. But for Congress, apparently, the rules don’t apply.

This isn’t just about a snow day. This is about how out-of-touch these career politicians have become. They wrap themselves in taxpayer-funded perks and refuse to face a little adversity. Is it any wonder our borders are wide open and our economy is a mess, when this is the work ethic we get from the people in charge? It’s no shock Nancy Pelosi’s crowd is quick to take a day off. Who needs to pass a budget or secure our border when you can stay cozy indoors?

Meanwhile, average Americans get punished with lectures about climate change and “shared sacrifice” by these pampered law-makers. But when push comes to shove, they’re the first to avoid a little hardship. Where’s that “leadership” the left is always bragging about now? Maybe if we put snowplows in Ukraine, Congress would get back to work on time.

If our leaders can’t even brave a flurry, how can we expect them to stand up to China or protect our basic freedoms? If America’s future depends on the courage of Congress, we’re in for a long, cold winter.
