Gavin Newsom has embarrassed himself yet again, showing the world just how out of touch today’s leftists really are. Over the weekend, Newsom made jaw-dropping, racially insensitive remarks — the kind of comments that would have sent any conservative politician packing. But when liberals mess up? They don’t apologize — they deflect. Newsom’s excuse? He blames his “lifelong struggle with dyslexia.” That’s right, folks: according to him, somehow having trouble reading means you can’t help but make offensive comments.
Only in Democrat circles can a governor say something flat-out racist and then turn himself into a victim. This is the same playbook we’ve seen time and time again: liberals screw up, then twist the story to make it about their own “struggles.” How convenient. Americans are supposed to just nod along while Newsom acts like suffering from dyslexia justifies saying things that reek of arrogance and condescension.
The hypocrisy could not be more obvious. Imagine if a conservative had said what Newsom said — the outrage would be everywhere. The media would demand resignations. Protesters would be out in force. But Newsom gets a free pass from his friends in elite circles. This is what happens when the left controls the narrative. They pick and choose who’s allowed to play the “victim card,” and real accountability is nowhere in sight.
Let’s not kid ourselves about what’s really going on here. Newsom is more focused on protecting his own image — with one eye always on higher office — than showing any real leadership. Real leaders admit when they’re wrong. They don’t hide behind a medical condition. Blaming dyslexia for saying something racist is an insult to every single person who lives with that challenge every day. It’s no excuse, and the American people know it.
Liberal elites keep expecting regular Americans to look the other way when one of their own messes up. But working families in this country see straight through these games. If Democrats can’t even admit their own failures, why should anyone trust them with more power? The next time Newsom tries to pass off his blunders as some personal hardship, maybe he should ask himself: does America really need another excuse-maker sitting in the White House?
