NYC Mayor snubs Catholic Church for first time in 86 years leaving faithful furious

New York City just took a nosedive in decency. For nearly a hundred years, every single mayor has respected the deep roots of faith in the city. No matter what—war, crime, chaos—City Hall always made time for the Catholic Church. But now, liberal leadership has broken that tradition. Mayor Mamdani thinks he’s above the rest, turning his back on Catholic clergy during a milestone event. For the first time in 86 years, there was no mayoral handshake, no show of respect at the installation of a new archbishop.

Let’s be honest: this isn’t just some slip-up or scheduling conflict. This is the left telling millions of Catholics their values just don’t matter. It’s a clear message—faith, especially Christian faith, has no place in their woke vision for America. Mayor Mamdani would rather cozy up with the elite clubs and activist groups than honor a faith that built the city. Don’t be fooled. These stories aren’t minor. They’re proof liberal leaders are out of touch, or worse, openly hostile to the country’s moral backbone.

Cardinal Dolan and the Catholic faithful are right to be angry. They see exactly what’s happening. The mayor’s snub is a slap in the face. New York City has always relied on its churches—in the darkest days and the best of times. But now those contributions don’t count, all because they don’t fit the left-wing narrative. It’s the same tired argument: religion is “old-fashioned,” so push it aside and pretend tradition doesn’t matter. Funny how the left never has issues with other religions or special interest groups—just the ones with centuries of American values behind them.

The hypocrisy is sickening. Progressives preach about inclusion and respect, but they draw the line at Christianity. Anyone who stands up for faith and family gets shoved out of the room. Are we supposed to believe this city’s leaders have time to attend every pride parade or climate rally, but not a once-in-a-generation church ceremony? Get real. They’re making their priorities known. And it sure isn’t the families, traditions, and faith that built this country.

This is what happens when leadership is handed to globalists and career bureaucrats who care more about woke Twitter mobs than real people. New York deserves better. Maybe the mayor should learn some history—or, at the very least, some manners. When did respect for faith become so controversial on the left? Maybe it’s time for New Yorkers to ask themselves if their leaders are truly representing their values—or just trampling them.
