Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani took office with big talk about taking care of the people. Eight weeks in, he’s delivered nothing but more trash piling up. That’s what happens when left-wing politicians are put in charge — they talk a big game, but when it’s time to deliver, they’re nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, a private group—not the government—actually tried to keep the mayor’s promises. A cryptocurrency company set up New York’s “first free grocery store.” It wasn’t the city, it wasn’t the mayor, and it definitely wasn’t funded by taxpayers. This social experiment lasted five days. That’s right, five days in, and it already fell apart. Shelves emptied fast, crowds grew restless, and nobody left happy. Is anyone surprised? This is socialism in action—a feel-good idea that turns into a complete disaster.
It just goes to show that private enterprise still does a better job than socialist schemes every single time. Even when private money tries to play along with leftist ideas, reality hits back hard. Free stuff is never free, and someone always pays the price. In this case, it was New Yorkers left with empty promises, a mess, and fresh proof that socialism’s empty words never fill store shelves.
This so-called “free grocery” lasted less than a school week. Think about that the next time liberals demand bigger government and more handouts. If Mayor Mamdani and his socialist crowd can’t even manage groceries, how can anyone trust them to run America’s biggest city? It’s a bad joke—and sadly, New Yorkers are the punchline.
