Just when Americans should be cheering for true heroes, we’re forced to watch the Olympic spotlight shine on the wrong people. Every four years, the world is supposed to see what happens when hard work and freedom come together under the stars and stripes. But now, instead of celebrating American champions, the left and their friends in the media can’t help but elevate athletes who turn their backs on the country that raised them.
Case in point: Two stories about daughters of Chinese immigrants are making headlines, but only one really honors the American dream. Alysa Liu, who just won Olympic gold for Team USA, is exactly what this country is about. Her parents escaped communist oppression, came to America, and now their daughter stands tall on the world stage wearing red, white, and blue. That’s something every American can be proud of. But instead, the woke left would rather gush over someone like Eileen Gu.
Eileen Gu chose not to compete for Team USA. She picked China. She chases endorsements, fame, and personal gain by aligning herself with the Chinese Communist Party. And still, she enjoys American citizenship—the very thing millions would risk their lives for. Why should anyone be allowed to use U.S. citizenship as a convenience while supporting a hostile foreign regime on the world stage?
A prominent China expert recently said what many conservatives have been thinking for a while: It’s time to revoke Eileen Gu’s American citizenship. Why let someone play both sides? If you love China so much, if you want to represent them instead of America, pack your bags. Stop pretending this is about celebrating “diversity” or “global unity.” It’s about loyalty. No country survives if its own citizens can switch allegiances whenever it’s profitable.
The left, as usual, praises Gu for her “bravery” and “global mindset.” But they ignore one simple truth: You can’t serve two masters. While American athletes fight for freedom, pride, and country, liberals are happy to let our values take a back seat to globalist fantasies. Where does it end? If America is just a free pass—a status symbol to be flaunted while representing our biggest rival—then what’s the point of citizenship anymore?
