California likes to brag about being a leader, but these days, the Golden State is only leading in waste. The high-speed rail disaster—championed by Gavin Newsom—is just the tip of the iceberg. That so-called “bullet train” has become a national punchline, gobbling up billions and still years away from carrying anyone anywhere. But here’s the ugly truth: The high-speed rail isn’t alone. California is littered with ghost trains and empty buses, chugging and rolling through cities with barely a passenger in sight.
Taxpayers are covering the tab for these failures, but make no mistake—hardly anyone is riding. Liberals sold the public a fantasy that public transit would save the earth and fix all problems. Instead, what they delivered are near-empty trains, buses, and stations. Meanwhile, law-abiding citizens are stuck with rising costs, crumbling streets, and surging homelessness. Priorities in California are upside down.
This never-ending transit boondoggle is exactly what you get when you let leftists run wild with other people’s money. Every year, California’s government pours countless dollars into these so-called “green” projects. They claim it’s for the greater good, but who’s benefiting? It’s not the average family. It’s certainly not commuters, since the trains and buses are basically rolling ghost towns. It’s the special interests and globalist contractors sucking up government handouts who are laughing all the way to the bank.
Let’s say the quiet part out loud: California’s transit mess is a monument to liberal incompetence. They talk about saving the planet, but ignore the reality that people don’t want or need empty trains to nowhere. While other states build roads, boost police, and make life better for families, California’s elites are busy chasing utopian dreams that only make life harder for the regular folks they claim to represent.
How many more failed projects will it take before voters wake up? It’s time to stop funding these liberal fantasies and start demanding accountability. Maybe next time Gavin Newsom should take one of his own “innovative” trains—if he can even find any real riders other than himself and his buddies. California’s so-called leaders love to talk about transportation for the future, but in reality, they’re just experts at going nowhere.
