Fresh off their takeover of the state’s Supreme Court, left-wing activists have filed yet another lawsuit. This time, they want to kill the school choice program thousands of Wisconsin parents depend on. Why? To funnel even more cash into the state’s bloated, failing public school system. It doesn’t matter to them that student test scores keep getting worse, no matter how much money the schools spend. All they care about is control.
Let’s be clear—this isn’t about “equal opportunity” for kids. It’s about crushing competition so the teachers’ unions and their political allies can keep their monopoly. The radical Left is complaining that public schools are underfunded, even though spending has shot up by over 50% in the last decade. Yet, kids aren’t learning more—they’re falling further behind. If throwing money at this problem worked, our students would be world-class by now. Instead, all we see are higher taxes and lower standards.
But liberals aren’t interested in results. They’re obsessed with power. Wisconsin’s school choice program is a lifeline for families desperate to escape broken public schools. That threatens the union bosses and bureaucrats who feed off taxpayer dollars to protect their failing system. These lawsuits are just the latest dirty trick to force every family back into their broken mold, all while pretending it’s for the children.
Meanwhile, Democrat leaders like Tony Evers have already abused their power to raise taxes for centuries, literally changing the law to lock in higher bills until 2425. Now they want to claim it’s the Legislature’s fault schools are falling apart? Please. You don’t hear them talking about the secret meetings where so-called “educators” conspire to water down standards or duck public scrutiny about their failures. They just keep making excuses.
It’s no surprise school choice scares them. It gives parents power. It lets kids succeed outside the stranglehold of government mismanagement. The Left doesn’t want options, they want obedience. Why should Wisconsin families be forced to settle for less just to keep union coffers full? When are these liberal elitists going to admit that their big-government experiment has failed?
Here’s the real question: if school choice works for families, why are liberals so afraid of it?
