Donald Trump knows how to put on a show, but Tuesday night at the State of the Union, he took one of his classic detours—straight at the heart of Washington corruption. He threw down the challenge for Congress to finally ban insider trading among lawmakers. And there, standing red-faced, was Nancy Pelosi—the so-called “Stock Queen” who’s made millions in the halls of power—right in the crosshairs. Leave it to Trump to speak the truth everyone else is too scared to say out loud.
Of course, the entire room lunged to their feet, pretending to be shocked and proud for supporting a bill that should have passed years ago. Even Elizabeth Warren, the flag bearer for the far Left, got up and clapped as if she hasn’t spent her career cozying up to the same broken system. It’s laughable. These are the same politicians who’ve gotten rich while everyday Americans struggle to buy groceries. Suddenly, when the cameras are rolling, they act like they care about accountability.
Democrats love to wag their finger and claim the moral high ground on ethics. But when it comes to lining their own pockets, they invent a hundred excuses. Pelosi’s been dodging accusations for years, snapping up stocks right before big government decisions. If an average American tried the same thing, they’d be behind bars. But if you’re a powerful Democrat? You get applause.
Let’s be honest—Congress has never policed itself, and the American people know it. They’re tired of the double standard, the cozy deals, the smirks from politicians who fly to their mansions and laugh as the little guy gets crushed. Trump did what few politicians ever dare—he held the mirror up and showed them the dirty game they play. And for once, the whole world was watching.
Maybe this is the wakeup call both parties desperately need. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s all for show and nothing really changes. Are we actually going to stop American politicians from fleecing the people—or is the swamp just going to cheer and carry on?
