The West used to stand for freedom. Now, it seems elites would rather cozy up to ruthless dictators than stand up for what’s right. Just look at Iran. While innocent people are gunned down, thrown in prison, or executed for daring to speak out, Western politicians and activists twist themselves into knots defending the thugs in Tehran. They dress up Iran’s atrocities as “cultural differences” or blame America for everything wrong in the Middle East. But let’s be honest—this is not about understanding another country. This is about covering up evil because it fits the left’s anti-American narrative.
Who are these so-called progressives protecting? Certainly not the women being beaten for refusing a hijab. Not the dissidents rotting behind bars. Not the families mourning loved ones killed for simply asking for freedom. No, Western apologists are shielding a brutal regime that crushes human rights and spits on the very values we claim to hold dear. The left claims to care about oppressed minorities, but it seems their “caring” stops the moment it threatens their fashionable globe-trotting, anti-Western worldview.
It’s no accident. The globalist agenda has always included ignoring or even excusing atrocities—so long as it helps them bash America and its allies. Look at how mainstream media and university professors are quick to blame the West for Iran’s problems, but silent when it comes to state-sponsored murder in the streets of Tehran. The hypocrisy is astounding. If the U.S. even sneezes in the wrong direction, it’s headline news for weeks. Iran executes protesters and suddenly everyone’s too busy sipping lattes to notice.
What’s worse, this moral blindness doesn’t just hurt Iranians. It puts Americans at risk. Every time our leaders cozy up or look away from regimes like Iran’s, they send a message: the United States is soft, divided, and unwilling to defend freedom anywhere. And you can bet our enemies are taking notes.
Why do Western liberals defend tyranny abroad while attacking liberty at home? Maybe it’s time these self-righteous elites admit whose side they’re really on—because it sure isn’t ours.
