California has hit rock bottom—again. In a move that should outrage every decent American, Fresno is now facing the possibility of electing a convicted child sex offender to its city council. Yes, you read that right. The far-left experiment in California has gotten so out of control that there’s nothing stopping a man with a history of possessing child abuse images from running for office and, potentially, helping to decide the future for families and children.
This man, Rene Campos, is openly asking voters to look past his disgusting criminal record. He claims he brings a “unique perspective” because he’s actually lived through the justice system. Only in a state overrun by progressive “reform” lunacy would such a claim even be possible, let alone accepted. California Democrats have gutted law and order for years, always siding with criminals and never with victims. Now, thanks to their policies, even the worst offenders are rebranding themselves as potential leaders.
It gets worse. This isn’t some fluke in the law. As it stands, California law basically rolls out the red carpet for felons and perverts who want to run for office, as long as they’re off probation and living in the right place. Forget about protecting neighborhoods, schools, or the most vulnerable—liberal lawmakers are more interested in “second chances” for the worst among us than keeping communities safe. Is this what Democrats mean by “criminal justice reform”? Where is the accountability?
Other candidates, and anyone with basic morals, are disgusted. One business owner running for council pointed out the obvious: how can someone who can’t even go near schools be expected to represent the citizens, especially families? Liberals love touting “inclusion” and criminal “rehabilitation”—but at what cost? Allowing sex offenders to make laws is insane. It’s a slap in the face to every parent, teacher, and taxpayer who wants a safe city.
The truth is, this is the ugly result of California’s soft-on-crime, anti-family agenda. The radical Left has spent years tearing down every safeguard our society has to protect children, all in the name of some twisted version of “progress.” Now, they’re opening the door for convicted sex offenders to become lawmakers. When will enough be enough? If this is the “future” the Left wants, God help us all.
