It truly takes a twisted worldview to look at the proud athletes of America’s men’s hockey team—beaming with pride at the State of the Union—and call them “sad little pawns.” But that’s exactly what came out of the mouth of an ESPN radio host, proving once again just how out of touch liberal sports media has become. Apparently, if you show any ounce of respect for President Trump or love for your country on live TV, the left immediately starts calling you names.
Let’s get one thing straight: these young men earned their place to stand in front of the nation that night. They worked hard, they represented America on the world stage, and they had every reason to smile. Only someone blinded by anti-Trump, anti-American bias would see their joy as anything but pure patriotism. But this is the liberal playbook in action—attack, belittle, and shame anyone who refuses to bend the knee to their globalist agenda.
Isn’t it telling that every time an athlete or celebrity steps outside the approved narrative, the media turns vicious? They can’t stand the idea that real Americans are proud of their President. They get even angrier when those Americans are winners—hockey players, no less—standing with their heads held high while the whole world watches.
This isn’t about sports at all. It’s about sending a message to anybody who dares to celebrate this country or its leaders. The left wants to scare people into silence. But all they do is show their own weakness and bitterness, attacking young athletes for nothing more than smiling at the State of the Union.
At the end of the day, it comes down to this: would you rather have a generation of grinning champions, proud of the flag and their accomplishments—or doe-eyed “woke” commentators obsessed with tearing America down? The answer couldn’t be clearer.
