Baton Rouge rocked as Democrat insiders busted in explosive kickback scheme scandal

Corruption in Baton Rouge? Who could’ve guessed! Once again, taxpayers are left picking up the bill while fat-cat Democrats line their own pockets. This week, yet another high-ranking official from the previous mayor’s team has been dragged into court, indicted for a classic kickback scheme that would make any old-school Chicago politician blush.

Courtney Scott, an aide who once ran the “Healthy City” program under Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, is accused of steering contracts to a buddy’s business and then pocketing nearly $200,000 in dirty money. The so-called violence prevention initiative run by Broome’s administration pumped out contract after contract—one company alone landed nearly three-quarters of a million dollars in government funds. While hard-working Louisiana families struggled, these Democrat insiders celebrated at the trough.

And the worst part? It all happened under the compassionate, forward-thinking, “woke” banner of Broome’s “Safe, Hopeful, Healthy” initiative. Clearly, the only thing that got safer or healthier was the bank account of those grabbing the cash. Democrats love to promise reforms and social justice, but when no one is looking, their cronies are robbing the taxpayers blind.

Even after these offices were packed with federal COVID money, nobody seemed too worried about oversight. City staff gave contracts to friends, ignored basic ethics rules, and then tried to hide their tracks—running kickbacks through side companies and paperwork tricks. This is not accidental. It’s the same cynical liberal game: use feel-good government projects as fronts for shameless self-enrichment.

This is just one scam among many in Louisiana’s long-running corruption circus. While regular folks pay more for groceries and gas, government insiders get rich off the very systems they claim to “fix.” Will the left ever be held accountable for their endless hypocrisy?
