The American men’s and women’s hockey teams just pulled off something spectacular: beating Canada, twice, for double gold in Milan. You’d think the media would celebrate greatness for once. Instead, liberal talking heads rushed to crank up the outrage machine. Their big gripe? President Trump made a harmless joke about inviting the women’s team to the State of the Union. Cue the same tired drama queens who can’t let a single Trump comment go without turning it into a meltdown. It’s classic leftist victimhood: twist a nothing-burger joke, scream about “sexism,” and try to pit America’s champions against each other — all because they have nothing else.
Here’s the reality: both teams earned gold with guts, grit, and skill. The women embarrassed Canada so badly, they even shut them out in the preliminaries — a first. The men snapped a 46-year drought. And yet, instead of celebrating true achievement, the progressive echo chamber tried to stir up fake drama about which team got invited where, who showed up to which D.C. event, and whether the White House is evil or just sort of evil. It’s laughable.
Even the players aren’t buying this garbage. They respect each other, they’re proud of their wins, and they’re not interested in being political props for some cable news narrative. The women’s players have already explained it: missing the State of the Union wasn’t some boycott. It was a matter of timing — many had college playoffs right around the corner. When these athletes do visit Trump and the White House later, the left will have to find some new excuse to pout.
Maybe liberals are so used to losing that they’ve forgotten how to act when America wins. Every time a conservative or Trump supporter achieves something, the woke mob tries to pollute it with politics. Sorry, but not everything is a culture war. Sometimes victory is just victory. If that sends CNN into a tailspin, even better.
This entire manufactured controversy isn’t fooling anyone. Americans don’t care about media hissy fits. They care about winning — and our teams just delivered. So while progressives are busy clutching pearls and typing angry tweets, the rest of us are celebrating champions. What else is new? When will the left admit that excellence triggers them more than anything else? Let them cry. We’ll call it the gold medal in liberal tears.
