The latest prisoner exchange out of Syria should have every American asking tough questions. With so-called “help” from the International Committee of the Red Cross, a group of government fighters and Druze militants were swapped like baseball cards. Where’s the outcry over violent militants walking free while U.S. leadership stands by with a handshake and a smile?
It’s clear these international deals never favor American interests. Global elites pat themselves on the back for “smooth” diplomacy, but who actually benefits? Certainly not the families who have lost loved ones to these endless Middle Eastern conflicts. Nor the brave servicemen forced to clean up the mess after bureaucrats and NGOs gamble with stability.
This kind of foreign policy disaster is rooted in the same liberal weakness we’ve seen from Washington for years. The left talks a big game about “peace processes,” but all we’re seeing is more chaos. How does releasing dozens of armed fighters help anyone, except those waging war and the globalists making money off unrest?
It’s telling that this prisoner swap involved a lopsided number—25 government troops exchanged for 61 fighters on the other side. That’s hardly a fair trade in any sense. It smells like the same old appeasement strategy that liberal bureaucrats love. They cozy up to international groups, ignore the actual danger on the ground, and pretend their deals make the world safer.
America must stop playing by the globalists’ rules. Our leaders should put the safety of our allies and our own people first—not sign off on backroom deals that let militants go free under the watchful eye of international bureaucrats. If this is what passes for “diplomacy” now, maybe it’s time to tear up the script and start protecting our own. When will our so-called leaders finally stop giving in and start standing up for American values?
