Once again, liberal politicians in New York have found a new way to punish hard-working Americans. A federal court is actually letting New York City charge people just for driving into Manhattan during peak hours. That’s right—more tolls, more taxes, less freedom. They’re calling it “congestion pricing,” but let’s call it what it is: a cash grab to fatten the pockets of city bureaucrats and slash away at the everyday American’s right to move freely.
New York taxpayers already paid for these roads. Decades ago, their hard-earned dollars paved the streets so that families and workers could travel and do business. But instead of gratitude, city officials show nothing but greed. The city explodes in population, and instead of fixing the roads and letting people use them, politicians pour money down the drain while pushing for yet another tax disguised as a solution.
If you’re a trucker, a delivery driver, a mom driving her kids to a doctor’s appointment, prepare to open your wallet even wider. The city claims this toll will ease traffic, but everyone knows the only thing being eased is the fat cat politician’s desire for more control. This is typical liberal logic: manufacture a crisis, then “solve” it by making life more expensive for normal folks while they ride their taxpayer-subsidized trains and limousines.
Meanwhile, these globalist dreamers are dancing. They’d love to see America’s once-great cities empty, business choked out, and families priced out. Manhattan is being turned into a playground for elitists while regular people get stuck paying the bill—again and again. Where does it end? Soon you’ll need permission and a stack of cash just to visit your own downtown.
But here’s the real question: How many times will Americans let the government tax them for what they already bought? The answer should be zero. These tolls are another liberal scam, and it’s time citizens say enough is enough.
