How the radical left turned bedtime into a political battlefield and destroyed American parenting

For decades, parenting was simple. You set boundaries, taught your kids right from wrong, and kept politics out of the living room. But not anymore. Now, it seems, even bedtime rules and curfews come with a political label slapped on them—thanks to the relentless left. Permissive parents let kids run wild, hand out trophies for just showing up, and they almost always lean blue. Meanwhile, the parents who actually hold their kids accountable? Conservative. Patriotic. The way America used to be.

We’re watching a country slip away, one participation trophy at a time. The left has declared war on discipline. If you send your kid to bed at a reasonable hour, you’re suddenly some kind of authoritarian monster. If you expect respect, you’re called “old-fashioned,” or worse. But make no mistake: the radical left’s soft approach to parenting is just another front in their assault on tradition and authority. While Democrat elites push permissiveness, our schools fill up with entitled, coddled children. Is this what’s best for our future?

It wasn’t always this way. Twenty years ago, you wouldn’t hear people say, “That family is strict, so they must vote conservative,” or “Those parents let their kids call the shots, they must read the New York Times.” Parenting wasn’t a political circus. Now, thanks to progressive activists and weak-willed politicians, discipline is seen as “problematic.” The message is clear: raise your child with rules and you’re branded with a scarlet letter. But if you let chaos reign in your home? You’re celebrated on social media as a forward-thinker.

The hypocrisy is clear as day. Liberals love to brag about empathy and understanding, but when their free-range style fails, they blame everyone but themselves. Their children grow up with no respect for limits, and then progressives wonder why crime is rising, schools are crumbling, and mental health is in crisis. It’s because order, expectation, and old-fashioned values have been thrown in the trash.

It’s time for conservatives to take back the narrative. This is about more than kids being kids. It’s about the future of American society. Who do we want running things in twenty years—spoiled adults raised in lawless homes, or responsible citizens who understand right from wrong? The left wants chaos. Conservatives want order. The choice couldn’t be clearer. So which side of history are you on: the side of responsibility, or the side of excuses?
