It’s truly unbelievable what passes for leadership these days. As the world watches Iran twist itself in knots after the death of its brutal Supreme Leader, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani can’t even bring himself to criticize the regime—or support America and its allies. Instead, when pressed about Iran’s dangerous future, Mamdani preferred to dance around the issue like it’s some complicated math problem, not a question of good versus evil.
This isn’t leadership. This is cowardice dressed up as “nuance.” Let’s be totally honest: Iran has been a threat to peace and freedom for decades. The United States and Israel took out a dictator who spilled innocent blood and caused chaos across the Middle East. The only right response is a thank-you and a firm stand with our friends abroad. But for too many left-wing politicians like Mamdani, it’s somehow “controversial” to oppose dictatorships and support Western values.
Why? Because liberals like him are more interested in appeasing radical regimes than standing up for American interests. They twist themselves into knots to avoid ever answering a simple question: Is it better for the world when a terrorist-loving, America-hating tyrant is removed from power? Common sense says yes, but common sense died a long time ago in New York City Hall.
Let’s not pretend Mamdani’s slippery answers are some kind of brilliant diplomacy. This is anti-American posturing, plain and simple. And if you look closer, it reeks of typical globalist double standards. The left refuses to condemn Iran’s outrageous abuses and attacks, yet they’re quick to slam America and Israel for defending themselves. Maybe Mayor Mamdani should try explaining himself to the families who’ve suffered at Iran’s hands, rather than playing PR games for the far-left fringe.
It begs the question: If our own leaders can’t stand up to tyrants, how long until there’s no one left willing to do so at all? Maybe it’s time voters start demanding their politicians have a backbone—and maybe even a little loyalty to the country they supposedly serve.
