Oregon Dems secretly tried a gun grab but their plan just got shredded in stunning Senate move

The radical Left tried it again in Oregon—another backdoor gun grab, smashed to pieces by reality, at least for now. A few days ago, liberals were licking their chops over House Bill 4145, a bill stuffed with expensive permit hikes and ridiculous waiting periods, making it almost impossible for ordinary Oregonians to buy firearms. Not just carry them—buy them at all. Now? The bill is a skeleton, stripped of nearly all its anti-gun poison by the state Senate committee. About time someone pumped the brakes.

Let’s be clear: Oregon’s crazed lawmakers tried to more than double the price for a permit just to buy a gun, jacking it up from $65 to $150. For lower-income Americans, that’s not just a roadblock—it’s a massive, neon-lit STOP sign for their Second Amendment rights. Democrats love to shout about “equity” and “helping the poor,” but apparently those talking points fly out the window the moment it’s about the right to self-defense. Making people wait 60 days, too? That’s a slap in the face to every law-abiding family who wants a safe home tonight, not two months from now.

Of course, all this is over a law—Measure 114—that’s never even been enforced! The courts blocked it almost instantly, and it still sits in limbo while lawyers play games. Leave it to Oregon liberals to focus on hypothetical authoritarian laws instead of, say, stopping actual crime in Portland or keeping streets safe. Priorities, right?

The only reason the worst parts got gutted this time? Don’t be fooled—this wasn’t a sudden burst of common sense. Looks like it was all a dirty behind-the-scenes deal, probably pushed through as leverage for some other leftist tax scheme. Oregon politicians are experts at attacking your rights, then calling it “progress.”

Still, the fact that the permit price hike and doubled wait time got cut out—for now—is better than nothing. If Measure 114 ever actually kicks in, the damage won’t be quite as devastating. But let’s get real: No American should ever need government permission to buy a constitutionally protected firearm in the first place. If lawmakers put as much effort into fighting crime as they do fighting legal gun ownership, maybe Portland wouldn’t look like a G-rated version of Escape from New York.

But this is Oregon—where common sense and true liberty go to die. Maybe one day, voters will kick out the anti-gun lunatics running the state into the ground. Until then, why not ask for a unicorn that sings opera? You’ve got about the same chance.
