The swamp just claimed another victim. Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales is throwing in the towel, ending his reelection fight less than a year after admitting to an extramarital affair. It gets even darker—this wasn’t just any affair. The staffer he got tangled up with died tragically, and not a single elite in D.C. seems to care about the real human cost. Once again, Washington proves it eats its own when they’re no longer useful.

Now, House GOP leaders are suddenly acting shocked, pressing Gonzales to step aside. Spare us the virtue signaling. The real shock is how these same so-called “leaders” ignored scandals from Democrats for years. Where was this outrage when Bill Clinton’s affairs were brushed under the rug? Where are the loud demands for accountability when Democrats break every moral and legal rule in the book? The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Conservatives expect real standards, not selective outrage based on party lines.

Let’s be honest about what’s really happening: the establishment’s only concern is optics. When a Republican falls out of line or becomes a liability, they’re kicked to the curb, fast.
