It Must Be Nice Being Married to a Democrat
Let’s not kid ourselves here—the double standard is glaring. The wife of New York City’s current mayor, Zohran Mamdani, decided to “like” posts celebrating the Hamas terror attacks from October 7th. Not just any posts, but ones glorifying terrorists who stormed in, murdering Israeli women, children, even dogs—yes, dogs. The mainstream press? Crickets. If anyone’s shocked by the silence, they must have missed the last decade of Democrats getting a pass for behavior that would have Republicans tarred and feathered.
Let’s do a thought experiment. Imagine if the spouse of a Republican leader had clicked “like” on a post celebrating a massacre. Picture the firestorm. Remember when Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s wife hung a historical flag at their home? The left tried to turn it into a national crisis, shrieking that he should have to step down from cases because of a flag that didn’t even come close to advocating violence. When Virginia Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas, exchanged texts with Trump’s chief of staff, Democrats called for impeachment—even though Supreme Court justices aren’t responsible for their spouses’ opinions or private messages.
Apparently, following protocol doesn’t even help. Take Bruce Fischer, husband of Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer. The man didn’t shake Vice President Kamala Harris’s hand during a swearing-in ceremony—because he physically couldn’t, occupied as he was with a Bible and a cane. Did liberals give him the benefit of the doubt? Not a chance. Instead, they rushed to social media, labeling him disrespectful. The left’s civility runs out fast when you have an (R) after your name.
Yet when the wife of New York’s Democrat mayor shows open support for the butchering of Jewish civilians, the excuse-makers come crawling out. We’re told she’s a “private person,” her views aren’t her husband’s, and we should ignore the fact she lives under the same roof as the man shaping policy for America’s biggest city. Are we really supposed to believe her cheering for mass murder doesn’t have any impact on her husband? Especially when he’s been on record herself pushing for a “global intifada”? The left is just hoping everyone looks the other way.
Here’s the ugly truth: Democrats only care about spouses’ opinions when they can use them to take down a Republican or conservative judge. Jewish Americans in New York, the largest Jewish city outside Israel, are now led by a mayor whose wife is on social media applauding their enemies. Jews ought to feel safe—but apparently only if their safety doesn’t get in the way of the left’s political narrative. Don’t forget, these are the same folks that trashed a football player’s wife for simply “liking” a Trump post online, demanding she be banished from polite society. But plot slaughter, and you get a shrug.
So, what’s really going on here? Are Democrats so desperate to keep power they’ll ignore open hatred for Jews if it suits them? Or is killing Jews just par for the course with today’s progressive elites? At this point, being married to a Democrat must be the best get-out-of-scrutiny card in America. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
