Fraudsters Robbing the Poor—But Liberals Still Look the Other Way
Another day, another government program ransacked by greedy criminals—while the left pretends these programs are untouchable. This time, it’s the so-called “safety net” for women and children. A Chicago-area store owner got four years behind bars after he scammed the taxpayer-funded WIC program for years, raking in millions off the backs of hard-working Americans.
From 2010 to 2018, this “entrepreneur” and his crew turned a program meant for babies and mothers into their own golden ticket, skimming over $19 million by gaming the system. How? By cashing in government checks for products the law says don’t qualify, jacking up prices, and lining their own pockets. All told, ten stores got away with it—ten! Only now, after nearly a decade, are they paying the price. How does this kind of theft go unnoticed for so long under Democratic city leadership? Simple: the left prioritizes unchecked spending and blind trust over real accountability.
It’s no accident these fraud rings pop up in liberal-run cities like Chicago, where big-government programs hand out money and hope for the best. The so-called “watchdogs” of government couldn’t even spot tens of millions being siphoned away—so where was all that oversight the left promises us? Every dollar stolen is a dollar ripped away from an honest family who needs help, but also from the taxpayer footing the bill.
And what’s the penalty for this years-long, multi-million dollar fraud? Just four years in prison for the ringleader, while eight others who pleaded guilty still await their slap on the wrist. With nearly $9 million in restitution ordered, does anyone seriously believe these career schemers will pay it back? Liberals keep pushing for more welfare, but can’t even protect the programs they already have.
There’s a reason this happens again and again. Bloated government handouts don’t help communities when they’re magnets for criminals and cheaters. If Americans don’t start demanding responsibility—and accountability—from both our elected officials and the people running these programs, this nonsense will never end. Why should hard-working Americans trust a system this broken?
