America woke up to another brutal reminder of what happens when weak leaders put politics ahead of national security. Over the weekend, two young men—sons of immigrants, living large in stable American homes—decided to thank this country by trying to blow it to pieces in New York City. These weren’t desperate kids. One came from a massive 5,800 square foot Pennsylvania home. They had opportunity, they had choices, and they chose ISIS instead.
Now we hear from federal officials: these two are being hit with charges for supporting a terrorist group and using a weapon of mass destruction. Homemade bombs loaded with bolts and nails—designed for one thing, and one thing only: killing as many Americans as possible. These weren’t one-off lunatics. One openly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Both were obsessed with ISIS propaganda and admitted they hoped to pull off something even deadlier than the Boston Marathon bombing.
Just think about that level of evil. Boston saw three innocents murdered and over two hundred maimed. Apparently, that wasn’t enough gore for these wannabe jihadis—they bragged to police that they wanted something “bigger.” There are even photos, reportedly, of one holding a lit bomb seconds before it was thrown into a crowd. How many more of these “inspired” attacks will it take before clueless liberals wake up?
But don’t expect any action from the Democrats who’d rather play politics than protect Americans. They’re busy grandstanding, shutting down Homeland Security, and trying to gut the very agencies tasked with keeping jihadists off our streets. Their demand to defund DHS and ICE sends a loud, clear message: open borders, open season on America. All while families from Afghanistan, Turkey, and—let’s not forget—a Senegalese gunman in Texas bring bloodshed to our cities, chanting Islamist slogans and carrying the flags of our enemies.
Meanwhile, it takes a real leader to draw a red line, not with hashtags but with action. Only now, with a White House that actually means business, are we seeing the first steps toward crushing Iran’s terror tentacles once and for all. The question is, will the left wake up in time—or are they too busy fighting for the “rights” of foreign radicals to notice the bombs landing in our backyards?
