Mass panic hit Old Dominion University after a deranged gunman injured two people on campus before paying with his own life. Once again, America’s so-called “smartest” places—our universities—prove to be some of the most dangerous. While students ran for their lives and police officers scrambled, the university could only react by shutting everything down for the day. Big surprise—another horrific incident, another day of canceled classes, another administration left stammering.
Liberals will likely twist themselves in knots blaming law-abiding gun owners, not the broken culture infecting our schools. Instead of confronting the real issues—like broken family units, the glorification of violence in leftist pop culture, and a total lack of discipline—the usual talking heads will push for more laws that only punish the innocent. Meanwhile, criminals and maniacs just laugh at yet another “gun-free zone” sign.
The truth is, decades of left-wing policies have turned our institutions into soft targets. Bureaucrats hide behind committees and “equity” exercises, while real threats stalk our kids. Common sense would say to have trained armed security or even consider concealed carry for responsible adults. But no, better to virtue signal while the blood dries on the quad.
Nothing about this incident will inspire the left to rethink its failed playbook. Instead, expect waves of useless statements, calls for “universal background checks” that wouldn’t stop a single determined killer, and media figures offering “thoughts and prayers” while smearing half the country as extremists. Liberals are good at talking about “safety”—yet safety is always the first casualty of their policies.
When, exactly, will America decide enough is enough? How many more tragedies—on campuses, in cities, on our streets—will it take before we realize that coddling criminals and hating the Second Amendment only brings more chaos, not less? Where is the leadership that puts students first, instead of politics and political correctness?
