Seventeen Democrat-run states have decided to sue the Education Department to block a new rule: colleges must report how they use race in admissions decisions. That’s right—these blue states are fighting for secrecy when it comes to racial preferences, and they don’t even try to hide it.
Democrat leaders claim the feds are making a political move. Funny, isn’t it? These same Democrats love forcing every business and government agency to count, categorize, and divide everyone up by race, gender, or which bathroom they use—until that data might actually expose their own unfair behavior.
What are these liberal states so afraid of? Maybe the truth. Americans know that “diversity” has become a Trojan horse for discrimination against certain students. Colleges have been hiding their biased admissions games for years, shutting out hard-working kids in favor of left-wing social experiments. Now that the Education Department is shining a light on these tactics, suddenly Democrats want to cover it all up.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta whines that this reporting demand is just a tool for political gain. But who’s really using politics as a weapon? It’s always liberals twisting the rules, using the courts to protect their own power. They’ve spent decades turning higher education into a woke playground where merit takes a back seat to identity politics.
The people deserve to know how colleges are picking and choosing the next generation of leaders. Taxpayers shouldn’t have to fund leftist institutions that play favorites behind closed doors.
