The British political elite has hit a new low, and yes, it’s the same tired Labour Party names at the center of yet another disgrace. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, the supposed paragon of “integrity,” handpicked Peter Mandelson to be ambassador to the United States—knowing full well Mandelson kept close ties with one of history’s most reviled monsters: Jeffrey Epstein. This wasn’t ancient history, and this wasn’t before Epstein’s shocking crimes saw the light of day. Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein continued even after the world knew exactly what kind of company Epstein was keeping—young, vulnerable girls trafficked for sex.
Yet Starmer, in his infinite wisdom, handed Mandelson the keys to the British-American relationship, pretending nothing was wrong. Remember, this is the same Labour Party that preaches “trust in government” and lectures working families about morality. Meanwhile, their top brass are more than comfortable sharing cocktails with the wolves who prey on the innocent. If a conservative ever pulled such a stunt—turning a blind eye to shady friends—the liberal outrage machine would never let us forget. But when it’s their own, the silence is deafening.
What’s really behind this decision? Globalist loyalty and insider deals yet again trump common decency. Mandelson and his ilk are not outsiders accidentally brushing up against corruption—they’re career powerbrokers who thrive in the world of backroom handshakes and “don’t ask, don’t tell.” To Starmer and the Labour elite, the American ambassadorship isn’t about representing British people—it’s about rewarding friends who kept their mouths shut and played the globalist game.
Starmer’s supporters love to accuse conservatives of being “out of touch,” but it’s their own leader who has surrounded himself with men tangled up in the sleaziest corners of elite society. If this is progress, the British people ought to be terrified. The hypocrisy could not be more obvious: it’s rules for thee, but not for me. When it’s time to stand up against powerful predators, the left suddenly goes mute.
British voters and American allies should be outraged. Is this the best the UK has to offer—a leader who shrugged at an Epstein connection and handed his pal a cushy post? The global elite can cover for each other as much as they want, but the rest of us see right through it. When will the left admit their so-called “values” always go out the window to protect their own?
