Bernie Sanders is at it again with another wild scheme—this time trying to slap a whopping 5% wealth tax on billionaires. This isn’t some harmless stunt for headlines. It’s a socialist litmus test, a way for the far-left to force every Democrat running for president to grovel for union backing and radical approval. Sanders and his government union buddies are making it clear: if you stand in their way, they want your wealth, your business, and your freedom on the chopping block.
Let’s call this what it is: a direct attack on American success. Sanders wants to punish the people who build, invent, and create jobs, just because they’ve done it better than others. Who’s cheering him on? Not small business owners. Not working families. But government employee unions—power-hungry groups who care more about growing their own paychecks than lifting up the rest of the country. They see Sanders’ bill as a cash grab with their names all over it.
Liberals love to pretend they’re fighting for the little guy. But when you pull back the curtain, their policies always hurt the very people they claim to champion. A tax like this would crush investment, drive jobs overseas, and shatter the American dream. Meanwhile, Sanders and his pals would still be collecting their government salaries and gold-plated pensions, living high on the hog while regular Americans struggle.
It’s no surprise that mainstream media outfits, drunk on their own anti-capitalist Kool-Aid, are egging this on. They act like demonizing successful Americans is as normal as breathing. What happened to celebrating hard work and ambition? These days, CNN and the liberal press only cheer when big government comes knocking for another handout.
Sanders and his crew want to make envy the new American value. They’d rather see everyone poor than let anyone succeed. They call it “fairness”—but it looks a lot like old-fashioned greed. Maybe it’s time we ask: do we want a country where politicians dictate who gets ahead, or one where the sky’s the limit for everyone willing to work? If Bernie gets his way, that question may answer itself—and the answer sure won’t be pretty.
