Another day, another wild scheme from California’s liberal elites. Governor Newsom and his allies are now pushing a senseless “cap-and-invest” program on the state’s few remaining oil refineries. They’re selling it as a clean-energy triumph, but it’s really just another woke attack on working families and the American energy industry.

Let’s be clear—this latest policy is a disaster in the making. Grown adults with actual business experience warned Sacramento that meddling with the fuel market would blow up in everyone’s faces. Chevron, no stranger to California, practically begged lawmakers to pump the brakes. But did Newsom listen? Of course not. The people in charge care more about pleasing radical environmentalists and globalist donors than protecting ordinary Californians.

This isn’t just bureaucratic nonsense, it’s a frontal assault on the wallets of everyday folks. Gas prices in California are already higher than anywhere else in America. Now, because leftists can’t resist bossing everyone around, drivers have to brace for another round of skyrocketing prices at the pump. Everyday Americans will shell out even more just to get to work, pick up their kids, or put food on their tables. Meanwhile, liberal politicians keep their motorcades gassed up and expect the rest of us to sacrifice.

This new mandate could force refineries to shut down or move away—killing jobs, hollowing out local economies, and leaving California even more dependent on foreign oil.
