There’s something absolutely ridiculous about how easily people get worked up over a random day on the calendar. Friday the 13th comes around, and suddenly the world goes a little crazy. Some folks act like stepping out the door is dangerous just because of a silly superstition. Meanwhile, other people strut around pretending they’re above it all—until you notice them nervously clutching a rabbit’s foot when they think nobody’s watching. It would all be laughable if it wasn’t so revealing about modern America.
That kind of superstitious fear is exactly what you get when secular, liberal culture pushes God and common sense out of our lives. Instead of faith or tradition, we’re left with empty rituals and a constant search for meaning in the strangest places. The elites love it—keep the masses distracted with nonsense about unlucky numbers, and they don’t notice when their jobs are shipped overseas or their values are shredded in some backroom globalist deal.
Of course, the left eats this stuff up. Superstition is a tool: a distracted populace is an obedient populace. Why encourage hard work and personal responsibility, when you can convince people their hardships are just bad luck—or worse, that big government can fix it with some bureaucratic magic? It’s just soft control, hiding behind what’s supposed to be innocent fun.
Ironically, for all their talk about “following the science,” liberals have built an entire culture based on feelings, not facts. They mock conservatives who trust in God and family, and then turn around and fret about an unlucky calendar day. Where’s their worship of reason then? Turns out, when you separate people from faith, they’ll find something to worship, even if it’s just fear itself.
Maybe it’s time Americans stop letting the calendar—or leftist fear-mongering—tell them how to live. Friday the 13th isn’t cursed, but the sneaky manipulation of weak-willed politicians and celebrity “experts” certainly is. Are you going to let a silly superstition (or a panicked, power-hungry government) rule your life? Or are you going to stand up, go to work, and show the world what real American grit looks like?
