California’s radical lawmakers are at it again, making a mess of the justice system and expecting applause for it. This time, they’ve decided to raise the minimum age for so-called “elderly parole” from 50 to 65. Liberals in Sacramento want you to think this is some brilliant fix—when it’s nothing more than a political stunt and a slap in the face to victims.
Before this bill, murderers and convicts who hit age 50—after serving just 20 years—could start lining up for parole, using their wrinkles as a ticket for early release. That was already a joke. Now, Democrats are pretending they’re going tough by bumping it up to age 65. But who are they kidding? These are people who put Californians in danger in the first place. Why should anyone care how old they are? Jail isn’t supposed to get easier just because you’ve got gray hair.
This is the same state that hands out special rights to illegal aliens, lets criminals off the hook with “restorative justice,” and cares more about the comfort of inmates than about law-abiding taxpayers. Now, when they’re finally forced to admit their old parole rules were just another “hug-a-thug” policy, liberals scramble to tweak the numbers and act like it’s real reform. It’s not. It’s political theater, and nobody’s fooled.
Let’s be honest: California’s justice system is busted because leftists running the show are obsessed with the feelings of criminals instead of the safety of families. They worry about “rehabilitation” more than justice. Victims are an afterthought—if they’re even a thought at all. The loudest voices in the Democrat playbook are always there to give a handout or a break to someone behind bars, rarely to the people harmed by their crimes.
If the left had any backbone, they’d stop tinkering with parole loopholes and start putting criminals where they belong—behind bars. Justice shouldn’t come with an expiration date. Why should anyone feel “relieved” that a killer or violent offender has to wait until 65 to get out? That’s not law and order. That’s just more liberal games. When will California stop coddling criminals and start standing up for the innocent?
