Once again, Americans are paying the price for reckless immigration policies and the media’s endless excuses for evil. This week, terror nearly erupted in suburban Michigan when a naturalized citizen, originally from Lebanon, drove his truck packed with explosives right into a synagogue—aiming to murder 140 innocent Jewish children. Only the bravery and quick action of security guards stopped this from becoming a bloodbath. The only fatality was the terrorist himself, who managed to take his own life after failing his cowardly attack.
The federal government has revealed who this man was—a 41-year-old originally from Lebanon, living in Dearborn Heights. And yet, as usual, the legacy media bent over backwards to paint him as just a quiet worker whose family “tragically” died in war. They’re more interested in explaining away his motives than confronting the sick hatred that leads someone to try to massacre kids in a house of worship.
Here’s what the media won’t say: this terrorist’s brother was a Hezbollah commander, responsible for helping to rain down rockets on Israeli civilians. So while the press wants to talk about trauma and root causes, they somehow skip over the family’s deep ties to terrorist organizations. Funny how liberal pundits who scream about “root causes” seem to clam up when the root is Islamic terror.
It’s no accident this man got here, either. He entered the U.S. thanks to a spouse visa, and just a few years later, gained full American citizenship—rubber-stamped during the Obama years, when vetting took a backseat to virtue signaling. How many more ticking time bombs have slipped through our broken system because politicians cared more about open borders than American safety? And how many more “quiet workers” out there have families directing rockets at our allies or plotting attacks on our own soil?
While the New York and DC elites wring their hands and defend the indefensible, it’s working-class Americans who live with the consequences. How many near misses does it take before our leaders face reality? The truth is this: softness on terror invites more terror, and every effort to excuse or rationalize these monsters is a slap in the face to all law-abiding citizens. Where’s the outrage for those children whose lives were saved by a miracle, not a government plan?
America doesn’t need more excuses. America needs secure borders, thorough vetting, and the guts to call evil what it is. How much longer will we let the Left make excuses for terrorists while our own kids are in the crosshairs?
