California finally cracks down on human trafficking but is it too little too late to protect our kids

While California loves to prance around on the national stage, bragging about progress and virtue, only now is the state seriously pushing a human trafficking bill through their Assembly. That’s right—a state known for Hollywood elites and tech billionaires finally realized it has a crisis festering in its own backyard. And it’s taken them this long to get a real crackdown on human trafficking one step closer to law.

Let’s be honest. For years, the ruling liberals in Sacramento have spent more time making life harder for law-abiding citizens and slapping criminals on the wrist than protecting our kids from the true predators lurking on their streets. But now, as the Assembly gives a human trafficking bill another look, you have to wonder why it took a tidal wave of public outrage for them to make human decency a priority.

Democrats running the show have always talked a big game about defending the vulnerable. Yet this problem has grown under their watch—while they shouted about climate change and electric cars, thousands of innocent children and young women saw their lives destroyed by traffickers. The left’s soft-on-crime policies and obsession with open borders have only emboldened these monsters. If it passes, it still needs to get through the Senate, where leftist lawmakers love to water things down or add pet projects and carve-outs for special interests. That’s if the bill even makes it that far without being gutted behind closed doors. After years of neglect, it’s hard to trust the same crowd that couldn’t even keep shoplifters off the streets, let alone go after criminal syndicates preying on the most innocent among us.

Is it finally time for California’s leaders to do the job they were elected for and put the safety of its people before woke politics?
