Obama Foundation Wants Free Labor While Execs Rake in Cash at Billion Dollar Center

It’s almost here—the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. After spending nearly a billion dollars and years of delays, they’ve finally finished a building that looks like Darth Vader’s favorite skyscraper. And what do they need now? Not paid staff. Not even security guards. They want unpaid volunteers to do the jobs nobody else is willing to do for free.

Funny thing—while the average American struggles to pay their grocery bill, Obama’s right-hand woman, Valerie Jarrett, was counting her $740,000 paycheck last year from the foundation. That’s right, seven hundred forty grand for one year’s work. Meanwhile, regular folks eager to “honor the legacy” of the Obamas get offered the opportunity to work for zero dollars an hour. Progressives are always eager to preach about “living wages” until it’s time to actually open their own wallets.

The Obama Foundation acts like it’s doing the South Side of Chicago a favor, calling this project a so-called “economic catalyst.” Sure, nothing says revitalization like a monstrosity in the middle of a city drowning in crime. Good luck finding tourists willing to risk a stroll past the latest crime scene just to look at brutalist concrete and a few dusty exhibits.

Let’s not forget Chicago’s latest scheme—a head tax for every employee. Regular businesses face more punishment for daring to pay people honestly. Will the Obama Foundation pay their fair share on all those employees? Or will they—as always—find some handy liberal loophole to dodge the rules everybody else is forced to follow? It’s always different when the elites are involved.

The left loves to talk about helping the working man, but here’s the real story—they build ugly things, underpay real Americans, and then parade it around as “civic engagement.” Next up, maybe they’ll swap the locals out for illegal immigrants—work gets cheaper that way, after all. For a party that wraps itself in the flag of the common man, they sure seem eager to turn every promise upside down. Maybe for their next trick, they’ll ask the homeless to chip in and sweep the floors. Is anyone surprised?
