President Trump isn’t known for mincing words, and that’s a good thing, especially when it comes to America’s interests abroad. Now he’s cranking up the heat on so-called “allies” who love America’s protection until they have to roll up their own sleeves. The Strait of Hormuz is a chokepoint for global trade, a spot where freedom-loving nations are tested. It’s about time someone forced our fair-weather friends to step up.
For years, globalist leaders and weak-kneed bureaucrats have sat on their hands while the U.S. footed the bill for securing vital shipping lanes. Liberals love to talk about “international cooperation,” but when danger rises, they disappear faster than Biden at a press conference. Once again, under Trump, America is demanding real action from the freeloaders lining their pockets with the fruits of American strength.
The left complains that America should never act “unilaterally,” demanding that every move be run through the United Nations circus. Funny how they sing a different tune when ships are threatened, oil prices spike, and families back home feel the pain. Suddenly those same liberals expect U.S. soldiers to risk everything so Europe and Asia can keep getting cheap energy, as if defending the world is just our burden to bear.
It’s time these so-called partners put their money—and their navies—where their mouths are. Trump is making it clear: If you want safe passage and American security guarantees, you need skin in the game. No more free rides for countries who sit back while the U.S. is left holding the bag, picking up the costs and taking the risks. Ship after ship benefits from the post-WWII order America built, but when things get rough, globalists and socialists suddenly seem busy with climate conferences or “dialogue.”
Why is it always the United States that gets called to save the day? Maybe Trump is right to turn up the pressure. Maybe these big-mouth countries will finally learn that “alliance” isn’t just a word thrown around at cocktail parties—it’s a responsibility. Or is the liberal world order just too allergic to accountability, as usual?
